At the next CITES meeting in Qatar spring 2010 Honduras and Guatemala will propose inclusion of Ctenosaura melanosterna, C. bakeri, C. oedirhina and C. palearis in CITES Appendix 2.
IUCN supports the proposals of Honduras and Guatemala.
IUCN/Traffic have asked the ESF (Studbook keeper) to support the IUCN with their knowledge and experience regarding those Ctenosaura species this is useful said proposals.
The ESF handled over a few documents with various information about C. melanosterna.
At the same time IUCN/Traffic asked the Studbook Keeper of C. melanosterna to join the Review Team which will review the proposals of Honduras and Guatemala.
By doing this the IUCN shows that they consider ESF to be a serious conservation organisation.
